Biological Hierarchy
Biological hierarchy describes how living things are organized from the simplest to the most complex. It starts with atoms, tiny building blocks of matter. Atoms combine to form molecules, which create structures like cells. Cells are the basic units of life; similar cells group into tissues, which perform specific functions. Tissues form organs, such as the heart or lungs, that carry out vital roles. Organs work together in organ systems, like the circulatory or respiratory system. These systems build up into a functioning organism—an individual living being. This hierarchy helps us understand how complex life is structured and functions.
