Biologic width

Biologic width refers to the natural space your gum tissue and underlying connective tissue need around a tooth to stay healthy. It’s the zone where your gums sit snugly against the tooth, including the soft tissue and the part of the bone beneath. This space helps prevent irritation and infection. If a dental restoration, like a filling or crown, intrudes into this space, it can cause gum inflammation, recession, or other problems. Maintaining proper biologic width is essential for the health and stability of both your gums and teeth.
