Biocolonialism refers to the exploitation of indigenous or local biological resources—such as plants, animals, or traditional knowledge—by external entities like corporations or researchers. This practice often involves extracting these resources without fair compensation or acknowledgment, frequently disregarding the rights and sovereignty of the communities that have stewarded them for generations.
