Bimaristan al-Nuri
Bimaristan al-Nuri was a historic medieval hospital established in Baghdad during the 13th century, under the influence of the Mongol-led Abbasid Caliphate. It served as a medical center where patients received treatment from skilled physicians, combining practical medicine with scholarly study. The hospital also provided medical training and contributed to the preservation and advancement of medical knowledge during its time. Its name reflects its association with the Nuri Mosque, nearby the city walls, symbolizing the integration of healthcare within the urban and religious community. Today, it is recognized as an important part of Baghdad’s rich historical and scientific heritage.
