Billroth I procedure
The Billroth I procedure is a surgical operation used to treat stomach cancer or ulcers when part of the stomach needs to be removed. In this surgery, the lower portion of the stomach is taken out, and the remaining part is directly connected to the beginning of the small intestine (the duodenum). This connection allows food to pass normally from the stomach into the small intestine. The goal is to remove diseased tissue while maintaining as much natural digestion as possible. It’s a common and effective way to address serious stomach problems that cannot be managed with less invasive treatments.
