Billroth
Billroth refers to a surgical procedure developed by the surgeon Theodor Billroth to treat stomach problems, often stomach cancer or ulcers. It involves removing a portion of the stomach and connecting the remaining part to the small intestine to restore digestion. There are two main types: Billroth I, where the stomach is connected directly to the small intestine, and Billroth II, where the stomach is connected to a lower part of the small intestine. This operation helps improve digestion by bypassing the diseased area, allowing patients to recover and regain normal stomach function.
