Bill Wilson (AA founder)
Bill Wilson, commonly known as Bill W., was the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), a worldwide fellowship aimed at helping individuals struggling with alcohol addiction. Born in 1895, he faced his own battles with alcoholism, which inspired him to seek support and create a platform for recovery. In 1935, alongside Dr. Bob Smith, he established AA, emphasizing mutual support and shared experiences. The organization promotes the idea that individuals can achieve sobriety through personal accountability and group support. Wilson's legacy includes the development of the 12 Steps, a guiding framework for recovery that is still widely used today.
