biliary tract disease

Biliary tract disease involves problems affecting the system of tubes (bile ducts) that carry bile—a digestive fluid produced by the liver—to the small intestine. These issues can include blockages from gallstones, infections, inflammation, or narrowing of the ducts. Symptoms often include jaundice (yellowing of the skin), abdominal pain, nausea, or dark urine. These conditions can interfere with digestion and may require medical treatment ranging from medication to surgical intervention. Proper diagnosis and management are important to prevent complications and restore normal bile flow.
