Bile Duct Cancer
Bile duct cancer, also known as cholangiocarcinoma, is a rare form of cancer that develops in the bile ducts, the small tubes that carry bile from the liver to the small intestine. Bile helps digest fats, and when these ducts become cancerous, it can lead to symptoms like jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), abdominal pain, and weight loss. The exact cause of bile duct cancer is often unclear, but risk factors include certain liver diseases, chronic inflammation, and exposure to harmful substances. Early detection is challenging, making treatment often difficult, but options include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.
