Bikaner Princely State

Bikaner Princely State was a semi-autonomous region in northwest India, ruled by the Rathore dynasty from the 15th century until British colonization in the 19th and 20th centuries. Located in present-day Rajasthan, it was recognized by the British Empire as a princely state, meaning it had its own ruler but was under British supervision and suzerainty. The state contributed to regional trade, culture, and architecture, with Bikaner known for its forts, temples, and distinctive art. After India gained independence in 1947, Bikaner integrated into the Indian Union, ending its status as a princely state.
