Big Band Theory
The Big Bang Theory is the leading explanation for how the universe began. It proposes that about 13.8 billion years ago, all matter, energy, space, and time were concentrated into an extremely hot and dense point. Suddenly, this point started expanding rapidly—a process known as the Big Bang—causing the universe to cool and stretch out. Over billions of years, galaxies, stars, planets, and other cosmic structures formed from this expansion. It’s important to note that the Big Bang describes the origin of the universe from a hot, dense state, not an explosion in space, but rather an expansion of space itself.
