Bier (beer)
Beer, or Bier, is a fermented beverage made primarily from water, malted grains (usually barley), hops, and yeast. During fermentation, yeast consumes the sugars from grains, producing alcohol and carbon dioxide—giving beer its alcoholic content and carbonation. Hops add bitterness and aroma, balancing the sweetness of the malt. There are many styles of beer, ranging from light and refreshing lagers to darker, richer ales. Beer is enjoyed globally, often accompanying meals or social gatherings, and varies widely in flavor, aroma, and alcohol content depending on ingredients, brewing process, and tradition.
