Bicycle Day

Bicycle Day, observed on April 19th, commemorates the discovery of the psychoactive effects of LSD by Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann in 1943. Hofmann intentionally ingested a small dose of the substance and, during a bicycle ride home, experienced vivid hallucinations and altered perceptions. This event marked the first deliberate LSD trip and significantly influenced scientific research and cultural discussions about the drug's potential and risks. Bicycle Day celebrates curiosity, scientific discovery, and the curiosity surrounding human consciousness, while also serving as a reminder of the importance of responsible research and informed understanding of psychedelic substances.
