Biblical genealogies
Biblical genealogies are detailed records of family lineages that trace the ancestry of individuals or groups, often highlighting divine promises or significant historical figures. They serve to connect key characters, demonstrate fulfillment of God's promises over generations, and establish cultural or spiritual identity. These genealogies are found mainly in the Old Testament, such as those of Adam, Noah, Abraham, and David, and are used to affirm the legitimacy of lineage, especially in relation to Messianic prophecies. While sometimes complex, they provide a framework to understand biblical history, God's covenantal relationships, and the continuity of God's plan through human history.
