Bias in testing
Bias in testing occurs when the way a test is designed or conducted favors certain groups or outcomes, leading to unfair or inaccurate results. It can happen if questions are unclear, culturally specific, or if the test doesn't accurately measure what it's supposed to across diverse populations. This can cause some individuals to be unfairly advantaged or disadvantaged, reducing the test’s fairness and validity. Recognizing and minimizing bias helps ensure assessments are equitable and truly reflect individuals’ abilities or knowledge, regardless of background.
