Bias in education
Bias in education refers to prejudiced attitudes or assumptions that influence teaching, learning, or assessment, often favoring certain groups over others. This can manifest through curriculum content, teacher expectations, or classroom interactions that unconsciously reflect stereotypes related to race, gender, socio-economic status, or culture. Such biases can limit opportunities, reinforce inequalities, and affect students’ self-esteem and academic achievement. Recognizing and addressing bias is essential to creating fair, inclusive educational environments where all students have equal access to quality learning and are valued for their individual abilities.
