Biak-na-Bato Republic

The Biak-na-Bato Republic was a short-lived revolutionary government established in 1897 during the Philippine Revolution against Spanish rule. Located in Bulacan, it was led by Emilio Aguinaldo and other Filipino revolutionaries aiming for independence. The republic sought to negotiate for freedom and organized military resistance. It ultimately ended when Aguinaldo and other leaders agreed to a peace pact with Spain, going into exile in Hong Kong to avoid Spanish military actions. The Biak-na-Bato Republic is significant as a symbol of Filipino resistance and a precursor to the later independence movements.
