Biafran War

The Biafran War (1967-1970) was a conflict in Nigeria, where the eastern region, predominantly Igbo people, sought independence and declared itself the Republic of Biafra. Tensions arose from ethnic, economic, and political disparities, including control of resource-rich areas and fears of marginalization. The Nigerian government opposed secession, leading to a brutal civil war marked by fierce fighting, blockades, and widespread starvation. The war ended with Biafra's defeat and reintegration into Nigeria, causing significant human suffering, loss of life, and highlighting issues of ethnicity and governance in Nigeria’s post-colonial history.
