Białystok Ghetto Uprising

The Białystok Ghetto Uprising, occurring in August 1943, was a resistance effort by Jewish inmates in the Nazi-operated Białystok Ghetto in Poland. Faced with deportation to extermination camps and the oppressive conditions of the ghetto, Jewish fighters organized an armed revolt, using limited weapons and homemade weapons to oppose the German forces. Although ultimately suppressed, the uprising symbolized Jewish resistance and bravery against the Holocaust’s atrocities, highlighting their courage in the face of totalitarian oppression.
