Bhopal was a princely state in India, ruled by a local monarch called a Nawab during the British colonial period. It was a semi-autonomous territory with its own government, situated in central India. In 1949, after India gained independence, Bhopal integrated into the Indian Union. Known for its rich history and cultural heritage, Bhopal later became the capital of Madhya Pradesh state. Today, it is recognized for its planned city layout, lakes, and historical sites, reflecting a blend of its royal past and modern development.
