Bhoodan

Bhoodan, meaning "Land Gift," was a movement initiated by Indian social reformer Vinoba Bhave in 1951. It encouraged landowners to voluntarily donate a portion of their land to landless farmers to promote social equality and reduce poverty. The movement aimed to bridge the gap between rich and poor by fostering a culture of voluntary giving for the collective good. While it did not fully solve land inequality, Bhoodan inspired ongoing efforts towards land redistribution and social justice, emphasizing compassion, community welfare, and non-violent change.
