Bhavnagar State
Bhavnagar State was a princely state in India during the British colonial period, located in what is now Gujarat. Ruled by the Gohil Rajput dynasty, it covered an area with important ports and trading centers, contributing to regional commerce. The state had its own administrative system but was under British suzerainty, meaning it maintained internal autonomy while recognizing British authority. Bhavnagar was known for its maritime activities, cultural heritage, and development initiatives before merging into the Indian Union after independence in 1947.
