Bharut Stupa
The Great Stupa at Bhāruṭ, located in present-day Pakistan, is an ancient Buddhist monument built around the 3rd century BCE. It is a large, hemispherical brick structure containing relics of the Buddha or other revered figures. Designed as a symbolic representation of the Buddha’s mind and the path to enlightenment, it features a central dome, a ceremonial railing (boundary wall), and pathways for circumambulation. The stupa served as a sacred site for meditation, offerings, and community gatherings, reflecting the spread of Buddhism in the region and its importance as a spiritual and cultural center.
