Bharhut
Bharhut is an ancient site in India famous for its early Buddhist art and sculptures from around the 2nd century BCE. It was a Buddhist monastery and stupa (a sacred mound) that features intricate stone carvings and walls decorated with detailed narratives of Buddha’s life and teachings. These inscriptions and carvings provide valuable insights into early Buddhist culture, art, and architecture. Today, Bharhut is an important archaeological site and museum, helping us understand how Buddhism spread and developed in India over two thousand years ago.
