Bhakti poets

Bhakti poets are spiritual writers from India who expressed deep love, devotion, and surrender to a personal deity, often Krishna or Rama. Living between the 7th and 17th centuries, they emphasized a personal, heartfelt connection with the divine, countering formal rituals and priestly authority. Their poetry, sung or recited, aimed to inspire devotion and spiritual awakening among ordinary people. These poets, like Mirabai, Kabir, and Tulsidas, used simple language and vivid imagery to communicate the divine’s accessibility and emphasize love and devotion as the highest spiritual pursuits.
