Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS)

Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) refers to operating drones or unmanned aircraft outside the pilot’s direct visual range, meaning the pilot cannot see the drone with the naked eye. This allows the drone to cover much larger distances, perform extended surveillance, deliveries, or inspections without constant visual monitoring. BVLOS operations require advanced technology like sensors, GPS, and reliable communication links to ensure safety and prevent collisions. Regulatory frameworks often restrict BVLOS flights unless specific safety measures are in place, as managing drones over long distances involves additional risks compared to line-of-sight operations.
