Beyliks
Beyliks were small principalities or states that emerged in Anatolia (modern-day Turkey) after the decline of the Seljuk Empire in the 11th century. Ruled by leaders known as beys, these regions were characterized by their semi-independence and often engaged in trade, military campaigns, and cultural development. The Beyliks played a crucial role in shaping Turkish identity and politics leading up to the rise of the Ottoman Empire. By the 15th century, most Beyliks were absorbed into the expanding Ottoman state, which became one of the most powerful empires in history.
