beta-arrestin
Beta-arrestin is a protein inside cells that helps regulate how cells respond to signals from their environment. When a signaling molecule, like a hormone or neurotransmitter, binds to a receptor on the cell surface, beta-arrestin can attach to that receptor. This attachment can stop the receptor from sending signals further, help the receptor get pulled into the cell for recycling or breakdown, or activate other pathways inside the cell. Essentially, beta-arrestin acts as a moderator and switch in the cell’s communication system, ensuring signals are controlled and appropriately processed.
