Bertha of Kent

Bertha of Kent was a 6th-century queen, known for her significant role in the Christianization of England. She was the wife of King Æthelberht of Kent, the first Anglo-Saxon king to convert to Christianity. Bertha was already a Christian before her marriage, and her influence helped establish Christianity in Britain. As a daughter of the Frankish king, she brought cultural connections to mainland Europe. Her efforts, alongside those of missionaries like Augustine of Canterbury, paved the way for the spread of Christianity in England, marking an important shift in British religious and cultural history.
