Berkin Elvan

Berkin Elvan was a young boy in Turkey, born in 1999, who became widely known as a symbol of the protests against political and social issues. In 2013, during demonstrations related to government policies, he was hit by a tear gas canister fired by police while he was outside his home. He fell into a coma for nearly nine months and tragically died in March 2014 at age 15. His case sparked national and international debates over police conduct, use of force, and human rights, highlighting concerns about state violence and the safety of civilians, especially minors, during protests.
