Beringia (theoretical land bridge)
Beringia refers to a land bridge that once connected Asia and North America during periods of lower sea levels in the Ice Age. This land strip provided a route for humans and animals to migrate between continents thousands of years ago. When the global climate warmed, sea levels rose, submerging Beringia beneath the Bering Strait. Today, the land bridge is largely underwater, but it remains an important concept for understanding the migration and spread of early peoples and species across the Americas and Asia.
