Berenice IV

Berenice IV was an ancient Egyptian princess and briefly the ruler of Egypt around 221–217 BCE. She belonged to the Ptolemaic Dynasty, a Greek family that ruled Egypt after Alexander the Great's empire divided. Berenice IV was the daughter of Ptolemy VI and served as queen for a short period, gaining popularity among Egyptians. Her reign was marked by resistance to her family's influence and political instability. She was eventually overthrown and executed by her brother, Ptolemy V, who became king. Her story highlights the complex and often turbulent nature of Hellenistic Egypt’s royal politics.
