Berengaria of Navarre (historical figure)
Berengaria of Navarre (c. 1165–1230) was a noblewoman from the Kingdom of Navarre and the Queen of England as the wife of King Richard I (the Lionheart). She married Richard in 1191 during his captivity in France, and although she spent much of her life in relative obscurity, she was a prominent figure in medieval European politics. As queen, she played a diplomatic role and was involved in managing her husband's estates, especially after his departure for the Crusades. Her life reflects the challenges faced by noblewomen in medieval Europe, balancing political influence with limited power.
