Benjamin O. Davis Sr. was a pioneering African-American military officer and the first African-American brigadier general in the U.S. Army. Serving from 1898 to 1948, he broke racial barriers by commanding the all-black 24th Infantry Regiment and advocating for African-American soldiers’ rights. His leadership and dedication helped challenge segregation in the military and paved the way for future generations of African-American officers. Davis Sr. was also a respected educator and role model, inspiring many with his service, professionalism, and commitment to equality and justice within the armed forces.
