Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a common condition where the prostate gland, which surrounds the urethra (the tube that carries urine out of the body), gradually enlarges with age. This enlargement can squeeze the urethra, leading to difficulty in urination, a weak stream, frequent urination, especially at night, or feeling the need to urinate urgently. BPH is not cancerous and does not increase the risk of prostate cancer. It’s a manageable condition, often treated with lifestyle changes, medications, or procedures to relieve symptoms and improve urinary function.
