Ben-Yehuda
Eliezer Ben-Yehuda was a pioneering linguist and lexicographer who played a key role in reviving Hebrew as a spoken language in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. At a time when Hebrew was mainly used in religious contexts, he worked to adapt it for everyday communication, creating new words and promoting its use among Jews in Palestine. His efforts helped transform Hebrew from a primarily liturgical language into a living, modern language, which later became the official language of Israel. His work laid the foundation for Hebrew’s revival and widespread usage today.
