Bektashi Dervishes

Bektashi Dervishes are members of a Sufi(order rooted in the Bektashi tradition, which emphasizes spiritual unity and tolerance. Originating in the 13th century in the Ottoman Empire, they practice a form of Islam focused on love, compassion, and inner enlightenment. Dervishes engage in rituals like music, dance, and meditation to attain spiritual closeness with God. They often live in communal settings called tekkes, where they study, pray, and support one another. Historically, the Bektashi order has played a significant role in promoting cultural diversity and religious harmony within Muslim communities, especially in the Balkans and Turkey.
