Behavioral Public Choice

Behavioral Public Choice is an extension of Public Choice Theory that incorporates insights from behavioral economics to understand how individuals make decisions in the political and public sectors. While traditional Public Choice assumes that people are fully rational actors, Behavioral Public Choice recognizes that emotions, biases, and social influences often shape choices. This perspective helps explain why voters may not always act in their best interests, why politicians might engage in opportunistic behavior, and how public policies can be designed more effectively by acknowledging the real behaviors and motivations of individuals in political contexts.
