Bee diseases
Bee diseases are illnesses that affect honeybees, often caused by parasites, viruses, bacteria, or fungi. For example, Varroa mites are tiny parasites that attach to bees, spreading viruses and weakening colonies. Deformed Wing Virus distorts bees' wings, impairing flight. American Foulbrood, a bacterial disease, infects and kills bee larvae, often smell foul. Chalkbrood, a fungal disease, causes bee larvae to mummify with a white, chalky appearance. These diseases can threaten colony health, reducing honey production and bee populations vital for pollination. Managing hygiene, controlling pests, and monitoring colonies help prevent and control these issues.
