Bede (Scholar)

Bede, also known as the Venerable Bede, was an influential Anglo-Saxon scholar and monk from the 7th-8th century. He is renowned for his extensive writings on history, theology, and science, most famously "The Ecclesiastical History of the English People," which is a key source for early British history. Bede's work combined careful research with clear writing, earning him the title "Father of English History." His scholarship helped shape medieval understanding of history and the Christian church, and he was later declared a saint and Doctor of the Church for his contributions.
