Becker's Health Belief Model
Becker's Health Belief Model explains how people's beliefs influence their health behaviors. It suggests that individuals are more likely to take action (like getting vaccinated or quitting smoking) if they believe they are at risk of a health problem, that the problem is serious, and that the benefits of action outweigh the barriers. Other factors include confidence in their ability to perform the behavior (self-efficacy) and cues or prompts to encourage action. Essentially, it highlights that personal perceptions about health risks and benefits shape whether someone engages in health-promoting behaviors.
