BECCS (Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage)
BECCS (Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage) is a process that combines growing biomass—like trees or crops—with generating energy, then capturing and storing the carbon dioxide (CO₂) released. Since plants absorb CO₂ as they grow, using biomass for energy can be nearly carbon-neutral. When the CO₂ produced during energy generation is captured and permanently stored underground, it removes additional CO₂ from the atmosphere. This technology aims to reduce greenhouse gases, helping combat climate change while producing energy sustainably.
