Be stars

Be stars are a special type of rapidly rotating B-type stars that display prominent emission lines in their spectra. These emission lines indicate the presence of a gaseous, dust-free disk of material around the star’s equator, formed by material ejected from the star itself due to its high rotational speed. This disk causes the characteristic emission features. Be stars are often variable and can sometimes lose or gain parts of their disks. Their rapid rotation and the resulting circumstellar disk can influence their brightness and spectral appearance, making them intriguing objects of study in stellar astrophysics.
