Bayonet Fighting Techniques

Bayonet fighting techniques involve using a bayonet, a blade attached to the end of a rifle, for close combat. Key techniques include thrusting, where the soldier jabs the bayonet forward to penetrate the opponent; slashing, which involves sweeping the blade across to inflict wounds; and grappling, where the soldier uses the rifle as a weapon and for control in close quarters. Training emphasizes footwork, body positioning, and quick reflexes to effectively engage an enemy while maintaining the ability to transition between rifle use and hand-to-hand combat. These techniques were historically developed for military effectiveness in intense, close-range encounters.
