Baumrind's Typology

Baumrind's Typology categorizes parenting styles based on two dimensions: warmth and control. The four main types are: authoritative (warm and with clear rules), authoritarian (strict and less warm), permissive (warm but with little discipline), and neglectful (uninvolved and neither warm nor controlling). These styles influence children's development, affecting their social skills, independence, and behavior. Authoritative parenting is generally associated with positive outcomes, promoting confidence and responsibility, while extremes like neglect or authoritarianism can lead to challenges in emotional and social growth.
