Battle of Vyborg

The Battle of Vyborg (June 20–23, 1710) was a significant conflict during the Great Northern War between Russia and Sweden. Russian troops aimed to seize the strategic fortress of Vyborg, a key gateway to the Baltic Sea. Despite initial Russian advances, Swedish forces, under Count Magnus Stenbock, fiercely defended the city. After several days of intense fighting, the Russians failed to capture Vyborg, and the Swedish victory halted Russian ambitions in the region. The battle demonstrated the importance of strong defensive positions and marked a turning point in the war, which ultimately led to significant territorial shifts in Northern Europe.
