Battle of Tyre

The Battle of Tyre occurred in 332 BCE when Alexander the Great's army besieged the heavily fortified city of Tyre, an important Phoenician port. Tyre had a natural island location and strong defenses, making it difficult to conquer. Alexander's forces built a land bridge to reach the island, demonstrating engineering skill and determination. After an eight-month siege, Tyre’s defenses were breached, and the city fell. The victory allowed Alexander to control important trade routes and expand his empire into the region. This battle is notable for its strategic challenge and the innovative tactics used to overcome a difficult fortress.
