Battle of the Little Bighorn

The Battle of the Little Bighorn, fought on June 25-26, 1876, was a significant conflict between the United States Army and Native American tribes, primarily the Lakota, Cheyenne, and Arapaho. Led by General George Custer, U.S. forces aimed to suppress Native resistance to westward expansion. However, Custer's troops were outnumbered and overwhelmed by a coalition of tribes, resulting in a decisive Native American victory. This battle is often remembered as a symbol of Native resistance against U.S. military endeavors and is also known as "Custer's Last Stand," as Custer and most of his men were killed in the engagement.
