Battle of Tewkesbury
The Battle of Tewkesbury, fought on May 4, 1471, was a key conflict in the Wars of the Roses, a series of battles for control of the English throne between the houses of Lancaster and York. The Yorkist army, led by Edward IV, decisively defeated the Lancastrians, commanded by Queen Margaret and her supporters. The battle resulted in significant losses for the Lancastrians, including the death of Prince Edward, Margaret’s son, effectively ending their claim to the throne. The victory solidified Edward IV's rule and marked a turning point in the struggle for the English crown.
