Battle of Tarifa

The Battle of Tarifa took place in 1812 during the Peninsular War, part of the larger Napoleonic Wars. It was a naval engagement near the southern coast of Spain, where British ships under Admiral Sir Edward Pellew fought a French fleet. The British aimed to disrupt French supply lines and weaken their control in the region. The battle resulted in a strategic British victory, damaging the French fleet and maintaining British naval dominance in the area. This helped support Allied efforts to push back against Napoleon’s forces in Spain and maintain control of the Atlantic approaches.
